Outdoor Learning with Mrs Cookson and Mrs Platt

At Birdlip Primary School we have an extensive (and developing) outside area:

Designated garden area with raised class planters.

Sheltered quiet area with seating.

Astro-turfed section.

Large football pitch.

Large wooden climbing frame for Key stage 2.

Long forest area.

Play area with seating and play equipment.

Wooden trim trail.

A large playing field.

A pond area.

A sculpture trail with willow dome.

New EYFS outdoor area.

A conservation area.

A wild flower garden.

A new Key Stage 1 climbing frame coming soon.

Every Thursday, each class comes out with us to use the outside areas.

We go out in all weathers – we ensure the children are suitably dressed and there is a safe ratio of adults to children.

We refer to the class teacher’s planning when we plan for our outdoor learning sessions. We cover a range of curriculum areas.

We have visitors, like artists to inspire and help develop our areas.

We aim to foster respect during these sessions

Respect yourself – Respect each other – Respect your world.

Most importantly… we have FUN!

We had lots of fun creating a willow dome!

The pond area.

We encourage birds to nest in our nature area.
